Reciprocal Pesticide Licenses
Reciprocal licensing allows those with a pesticide license from some other states to become licensed without having to take Washington State exams. Reciprocal licensees will still need to meet all other Washington state pesticide license requirements and pay annual renewal application fees to have a valid Washington license.
Do I Qualify?
- Washington State must reciprocate with your current state and license type.
- You must have tested in the state you are requesting reciprocation from.
- Your license needs to be in a good recertification cycle that is not set to expire in the next 60 days. If your recertification cycle is approaching expiration, we will need proof from your current state that you have already met the requirements to recertify for the next cycle.
- Your current state license does not need to be renewed for the year.
- If you aren't sure whether WSDA will reciprocate your license, please send a copy of your current state license to license@agr.wa.gov for review BEFORE sending an application and payment.

HOW DO I KEEP MY RECIPROCAL LICENSE UP-TO-DATE?
Reciprocal licenses must be renewed annually just like any other Washington State license. We will mail or email your renewal notice each November. Make sure your contact information is current.
Recertifying
You have three options to recertify your license:
- Earn credits that are approved in Washington State to meet your miniumum requirement. You can find more information on credit requirements for each license type and how to find Washington-approved courses on the Recertification webpage.
- Re-submit proof of your other state's license at the end of your Washington recertification cycle. If you have not earned enough credits in WA, we will send you a reminder in your renewal packet to submit along with a current out-of-state license.
- Re-test in Washington.
