There are 4 ways to get a livestock inspection.

1. Call a WSDA Inspector
2. Electronically request an inspection
3. Call a Certified Veterinarian or Certified Livestock Inspector
4. Sign up and use Electronic Cattle Transaction Reporting (ECTR) system
WSDA Brand Inspector

The Washington State Department of Agriculture employs multiple brand inspectors throughout the state who are available to perform livestock inspections. Please visit our contact us page for a list of brand inspectors and thier contact information. Please call 3-5 days in advance to schedule a brand inspection.

Certified Veterinarians and Field Livestock Inspectors

WSDA may certify veterinarians, who are licensed and accredited in Washington state and field livestock inspectors who comply with the requirements of WAC 16-610-060 to issue livestock inspection certificates. Veterinarians and field livestock inspectors may not perform livestock inspections for an individual or business if a conflict of interest exists.

Per RCW 16.57.025 fees for livestock inspection performed by a certified veterinarian or field livestock inspector shall be collected by the veterinarian or field livestock inspector and remitted to the director. Veterinarians and field livestock inspectors providing livestock inspection may charge a fee for livestock inspection that is in addition to and separate from fees collected under RCW 16.57.220.
