Registration of Commercial Weighing & Measuring Devices

Weighing and measuring devices used for commercial purposes must be registered annually. Your devices must be registered prior to being used for commercial purposes. Registrations are accomplished as part of the business license system through the Business Licensing Service and may be accomplished online. Registration of your devices is normally accomplished during application for a business license or when you add devices to your existing business. In instances where you operate several business locations you are required to possess and post a license for each location with the appropriate registrations and endorsements for the location.

Failure to register your device(s) may result in civil penalties of $100.00 per device.

Small scales "zero to four hundred pounds capacity" - $16.00
Intermediate scales "four hundred one pounds to five thousand pounds capacity" - $60.00
Large scales "over five thousand pounds capacity" - $120.00
Railroad track scales - $1200.00

Motor fuel meters with flows of less than twenty gallons per minute - $16.00
Motor fuel meters with flows of more than twenty but not more than one hundred fifty gallons per minute - $50.00
Motor fuel meters with flows over one hundred fifty gallons per minute - $75.00

With one inch diameter or smaller dispensers - $40.00
With greater than one inch diameter dispensers - $80.00

Fabric meters - $15.00
Cordage meters - $15.00
Mass flow meters - $300.00
Taxi meters  - $40.00
