During the 2022 legislative session there was discussion around forming a hemp commission. As a result, the Legislature passed a budget proviso directing the department to appoint a task force to make recommendations for the creation of a commodity commission for hemp. Those recommendations are due back to the appropriate legislative committees by December 1, 2022.  The intent of this task force is to seek feedback and opinions from relevant state agencies, the scientific community, and stakeholder organizations, including the hemp industry.
