Animal Services Compliance Program
The Animal Services Division Compliance Program provides law enforcement in support of the Animal Health, Avian Health, Animal Disease Traceability, and Livestock Identification programs. Designated by statute as Agriculture Officers, they are State of Washington Limited Authority Law Enforcement Officers and conduct investigations and enforcement to detect and apprehend violators of the laws relating to any division under the supervision of the Director of Agriculture.
The Compliance Program welcomes inquiries regarding the WSDA Compliance Program, or from anyone reporting a potential violation.

Our Mission
The Animal Services Compliance Program supports the division by conducting comprehensive investigations and law enforcement for violations under our jurisdiction, along with pro-active efforts and field enforcement to ensure compliance with state animal health and livestock laws and regulations. The Compliance Program is vital to safeguarding the state’s agricultural trade and food supply by ensuring protections within the industry and in preserving the health and wellbeing of animals in the livestock trade.
Animal Services - Laws and Regulations
RCW Title 16 - Animals and Livestock is contained within the enforcement authority of the WSDA. There are statutes within Title 16 that remain within the primary enforcement jurisdiction of local authorities, such as 16.52 Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
The following RCW Chapters are commonly investigated by the Compliance Program, both contain both civil and criminal violations, with penalties ranging from civil fines up to criminal prosecution.
