Waste Pesticide Program

WSDA, in cooperation with local agencies, operates the Waste Pesticide Identification and Disposal Program. The Program collects unusable or unwanted agricultural and commercial grade pesticides from residents, farmers, small businesses, and public agencies  free of charge and ships them for proper destruction or disposal. Collection events are held at locations across Washington State where customers can bring their unusable pesticides for proper disposal.

2025 Pesticide Collection Calendar

Individuals and organizations should submit a disposal inventory form or ask for assistance when a disposal need arises rather than waiting for an announced collection event. Collection areas are planned based upon local need and from where we are receiving disposal inventories.

To participate in announced collection areas, potential customers should submit a disposal inventory or contact us at least one-month prior to the collection week.

WSDA WILL NOT HOST WASTE PESTICIDE COLLECTION EVENTS UNTIL FALL 2025

Hello potential pesticide disposal customers.

WSDA will not host any pesticide collection events during spring and early summer of 2025. However, we expect to resume our services by late summer and fall of 2025.

The three primary reasons driving this action are:

  1. Budget constraints - We do expect to receive a legislative appropriation to continue pesticide disposal during the next biennium, July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027.
  2. Expiration of current Washington State Hazardous Waste Contractor - The state is currently seeking the hazardous waste contractor through competitive bids.
  3. Collection events cannot be scheduled until the successful contractor is named.
During this time, you can continue to submit your disposal inventory forms for the pesticides you wish to dispose of in 2025 and 2026. Please attach your inventory form to an email that you send to wastepesticide@agr.wa.gov .  Please contact the program via email if you need any help with an on-site technical assistance visit at your location or have questions about pesticide disposal.

We are sorry for this postponement of disposal events; however, WSDA will be ready to serve you again once we have a new disposal budget and the state has selected a contractor to manage, transport, and dispose/destroy the collected unwanted pesticide products.

After the Customer Inventory Form is received and screened, staff will contact you to reserve a space for an upcoming collection event. The week before the collection event, an emailed packet will be sent to you including:
  • A map with directions to the collection site
  • Confirmation letter with appointment time. We assign group appointment times to prevent long lines if everyone showed up near the same time.
  • Additional necessary transportation documents. We will provide you with a bill-of-lading document listing in alphabetical order the pesticide products you are transporting to the collection event.
  • Additional clear, 4-mil plastic over pack bags (if requested, will be mailed to your address)
During the collection event please be aware that a Declaration of Waste Pesticide will need to be signed, to transfer ownership from you to WSDA. At this point WSDA is the official waste generator and customer’s names are not listed on the disposal manifest or any other disposal documents. You should retain the signed Declaration and bill-of-lading documents for your files as proof of proper disposal.
This program accepts agricultural pesticides such as:
  • Herbicides
  • Insecticides
  • Rodenticides
  • Fungicides
  • Adjuvants
