WPS Train the Trainer Courses

The TtT (Train the Trainer) is a 2-day course with a strong hands-on component, designed to train people on how to train agricultural workers and pesticide handlers. It provides individuals with the knowledge and tools to conduct practical pesticide safety training that complies with state and federal requirements of the EPA’s Worker Protection Standard (WPS).
 

Course Information


PARTICIPANTS
The TtT is aimed at agricultural employers, farm managers, supervisors and individuals who want to conduct pesticide safety training for agricultural workers and pesticide handlers working at agricultural establishments where WPS-labeled pesticide products are used in the production of agricultural plants (farms, forest, nurseries and enclosed spaces).

Space is limited! Register early by calling the sponsor registration contact in the training calendar. Fee is payable to the sponsor.

PESTICIDE CREDITS
WSDA licensed participants will be offered 9 pesticide credits.

NOTE: WSDA reserves the right to alter this schedule, including canceling classes due to severe weather or low enrollment

To become a WSDA WPS Certified Trainer, you must comply with the following:

  1. Have completed at least one of the following pre-requisites:
    • Have a current WSDA Pesticide Applicators License
    • Be a Pesticide Handler trainee by WSDA staff within one year.
  2. Successfully complete a TtT* workshop
  3. At the end of the TtT workshop take and pass (with at least 80%) a 25-question Knowledge Assessment.
  4. Successfully deliver a 5-minute mock pesticide training at the end of the TtT workshop, using two training methods that accurately and effectively cover a WPS required training point.

To speed the process, please be prepared with a correctly filled out WPS Pesticide Safety Training Record, and with the WPS Trainer Agreement. Once throughly completed, email to WPSCardrequest@agr.wa.gov.
 
Class size: 16-32 participants
Length: 2-days
Language: English and Spanish. Please indicate language preference at the time of registration.
Format:
  • First day:
    • The group is divided into two smaller groups that rotate though four, 80-minute training modules.
  • Second Day:
    • Participants conduct a series of hands-on activities that provide them with a comprehensive review of the training points required by WPS to be covered during pesticide training. The last portion of the workshop is devoted to offering participants the opportunity to become a WSDA WPS-Certified Trainer.
 
 

All participants receive a free USB Drive with electronic course materials including:
