EFAP-Tribal Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

EFAP-Tribal is a food assistance program that provides unprepared food, or food vouchers to purchase unprepared food, to food insecure tribal communities across Washington State. The program is administered by the Washington State Department of Agriculture Food Assistance. 
Funds are allocated based on a per tribe base plus tribal enrollment. 
32 tribes and 2 tribal organizations participate in EFAP-Tribal.
An EFAP-Tribal Voucher is given to a tribal community member in need of food. That tribal member will use the voucher to purchase approved types of unprepared food at their local supermarket for home consumption.
Tribes provided vouchers to more than 11,000 tribal members in 2023.
