What do you need today?

Spray Adjuvants

Spray adjuvants are products that are used to increase the effectiveness of a pesticide (e.g. extenders, penetrants, spreaders, stickers, surfactants) or to modify the characteristics of the tank mix (e.g. acidifiers, defoaming agents, drift control agents). Adjuvants must be registered with WSDA prior to distribution in Washington State.

How to Register

To register a spray adjuvant: Products intended for use in commercial settings, including agriculture, are subject to GHS requirements. You can learn more in WSDA's Guidance on Globally Harmonized System (GHS) Implementation for Spray Adjuvants

ATTENTION: New Registrants / Agents

If you are an agent or a registrant submitting your first spray adjuvant application in Washington State, you must complete a consultation with a registration specialist prior to submitting your application. Contact the Pesticide Registration Help Desk at pestreg@agr.wa.gov or 360-902-2030 to request a consultation.

Spray Adjuvant Ingredients and Confidential Statement of Formula

A complete formulation must be on file for spray adjuvants before the product review can be completed. This includes all 100% repacks and all proprietary components that are not fully disclosed on the product CSF. If your product is a repack, enter “100% repack of [product name]” as the chemical name on your CSF and request a supporting CSF from your repack supplier. You must request a supporting CSF from each supplier of a proprietary component.

Submit all CSFs via the secure Pesticide Registration CSF portal.

For help choosing a label name for your ingredients, see WSDA’s memo on Spray Adjuvant Ingredient Statements. To assist the adjuvant industry, WSDA has developed a partial list of spray adjuvant ingredient names. To receive a copy of the current list please contact WSDA at 360-902-2030 or pestreg@agr.wa.gov.

Aquatic Use

Spray adjuvants labeled for aquatic use must follow the requirements in the WSDA spray adjuvant guidance and must also be consistent with all WSDA Criteria for Registration of Spray Adjuvants for Aquatic Use. Aquatic toxicity data is required.
