Weights & Measures Program

What do you need today?

What We Do

The WSDA Weights and Measures Program promotes marketplace equity in commercial transactions through testing and inspecting commercial devices, price verification, package inspection, public education, monitoring fuel quality, and investigating complaints.

The WSDA Metrology Laboratory maintains the standards for mass, volume, and length in order to provide reliable measurement services for government and industry.

Service Agents

Service Agents who intend to provide service that permits a weighing or measuring device to be placed back into commercial service must register with WSDA annually. Registered Service Agents can renew, add new or delete existing service persons online using our registration system called PISCES. Printable Service Agent/Service Person Registration Applications  [PDF] are available for new applicants or renewing Service Agents who wish to complete a paper form.

When placing a new or used weighing or measuring device in service for the first time, a placed in service report is required to be submitted to the Weights & Measures office.

Weighmasters

Weighmasters are licensed under the provisions of RCW 15.80 to issue certified weight tickets. Applicants can license, renew, or add weighers online using our registration system called PISCES, or by paper form using our fillable and printable Application for Weighmaster/Weigher License [PDF].
