Organic Certification

To verify the crops, livestock, and products sold, labeled, and represented as organic were produced in compliance with the National Organic Standards
Producers who are selling, labeling, or representing crops or livestock products as "organic".
The new application can be found online at: agr.wa.gov/organic or you may contact the WSDA Organic Program to have an application sent to you.
Certification fees will be dependent on the scope and scale of you business.

Each operation is subject to three core fees:
  • ​A one time new application fee: $375
  • An annual inspection fee: $375 - $500 (based on scope, multi scope operations will be billed for each relevant scope)
  • An annual renewal fee based on gross annual income from organic crops and products

An annual onsite inspection is required before a certification decision can be made.
The certification process typically takes 90 - 120 days. This timeline will be influenced by the completeness of the application and timeliness of any responses to requests for clarifying information.
Certificates don't expire unless the operation surrenders certification or the Department suspends or revokes the certification. In order to remain in compliance and avoid suspension, businesses seeking certification must renew annually by March 1.
