Feeding and Grazing Permit (Pasture to Pasture)
What is the purpose of this permit?
The purpose is to allow cattle to move across state lines to an adjoining state for grazing and to return to Washington with no change of ownership. Cattle moving interstate under a Feeding and Grazing Permit approved by both states are exempt from a certificate of veterinary inspection, with the exception of Idaho who requires a certificate of veterinary inspection.
What activities require this permit and who needs to get it?
Any person, business or entity that moves their cattle in and out of Washington to an adjoining state to graze without obtaining a health certificate or certificate of veterinary inspection.

How much will it cost?
There is no cost to this permit.
Do I need to include anything with my application?
Yes, a copy of the negative Trichomoniasis test for bulls 18 months of age and older that are moving on the permit.
Is the decision to approve a permit dependent on anything besides the information in my application?
Yes, a positive Trichomoniasis test would influence the decision made for that herd.
When will I receive my permit?
The average response time, based on 2017 data, is one day, providing all requirements have been completed including the processed permit from the other state.
How long is a permit valid?
The permit is valid for 6 months.
