Air-blast Sprayer Calibration and Configuration

This program provides participants with the knowledge to calibrate and configure air blast sprayers in a more effective and efficient manner, as well as ways to monitor weather conditions in order to attain more effective pesticide applications that are less prone to drift.
 

Course Information


PARTICIPANTS
This 8-hour course is intended for growers, farm managers, and individuals that are in charge of pesticide spray operations.

REGISTRATION AND FEES
Space is limited! Register early by calling the sponsor registration contact listed on the 2024-2025 training calendar. Fee is payable to the sponsor only.

PESTICIDE CREDITS 
WSDA licensed applicators will be offered 6 pesticide credits.

Class size: 10-40 participants
Length: 8-hour
Time: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Language: English and Spanish. Please indicate language preference at the time of registration.
Format: The BMPs workshop consists of the following four training modules:
  • Module 1: Getting to Know your Equipment
    • The first module helps participants understand the function and maintenance of sprayer parts while considering safety precautions for equipment maintenance and operation. 
  • Module 2: Equipment Calibration
    • Conducted outdoor in a tree fruit orchard or vineyard. These training modules are designed to teach participants practical ways to calibrate equipment so that the sprayer accurately delivers the desired spray volume per acre.
  • Module 3: Equipment Configuration
    • Participants learn how to configure the sprayer according to plant height and canopy density so that spray is placed on the target reducing pesticide drift and increasing application effectiveness. 
  • Module 4: Environmental Factors & New Technology
    • This module provides information about new pesticide application technology as well as new devices that can be used for calibrating and configuration activities. Additionally, it provides information on the importance of applying pesticide under favorable weather conditions, and weather monitoring methods and devices.
