For information regarding Grazing, or Pasture to Pasture permits
Washington State offers online permits for shipments of cattle and swine. Cattle and swine must travel from the U.S. or Canada and must meet state entry requirements, which are presented in step 1 on the permit's site. To be considered "slaughter cattle" the cattle must be directly destined to one of Washington's four slaughter plants. The entry permit is instantly created and ready for use. To create a new permit go to: Entry permits are also issued from the state veterinarians office at 360-902-1878 between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, Pacific time. An automated after hours system is also available at 1-800-942-1035. This will record minimal information about the shipment and will also instantly issue a permit number. Please leave a telephone number in case staff need to return the call for additional information. Equine Semen/Embryo applications are submitted annually and processed the same day submitted, provided the necessary documents and information is included and correct.The following animals are required to have an entry permit:

- Beef/Dairy Cattle - Buffalo or Bison
- Equine - Only on equine imported from a county with Vesicular Stomatitis
- Sheep - Rams only
- Swine
