Use of Chemicals and Chemically Treated Materials in Certain Counties Rule (former Statewide Rule) Includes restrictions on the application of specific pesticides to certain crops and in designated counties, limitation on sale/distribution of use restricted phenoxy-hormone herbicides, ground / aerial equipment configuration requirements, weather/temperature conditions, evening cutoffs, and an allowance for issuance of application permits. See County Use Restricted Pesticide Rules for additional restrictions.

County Use Restricted Pesticide Rules - Sixteen eastern Washington counties have use restricted pesticide rules with specific requirements for phenoxy hormone-type products (e.g. 2,4-D, MCPA, dicamba). Within each of the sixteen counties are delineated "Areas" that further restrict the use restricted pesticides. Each county has a map outlining the designated areas. The applicator needs to determine the area in which the application is to be made and the use restrictions for that area.

- Clarifying "low volatile formulations": The phrase “low volatile formulations” appears in the County Use Restricted Herbicides Rules (WAC 231 and WAC 232). This phrase specifically refers to low volatile ester formulations and not to lower volatile types such as amines or salts. Effective, Jan. 26, 2019, it is the Washington State Department of Agriculture’s (WSDA) interpretation that “low volatile formulations” refers to low volatile ester formulations, wherever it appears in the rules.
