Wanted: Livestock Identification Advisory Committee members

This year the Livestock Identification Advisory Committee will have several positions open. The committee provides advice to the director of the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) regarding the WSDA Livestock Identification Program, inspection fees, and related licensing fees. 
 

The committee is composed of 12 voting members appointed by the director as follows:

  • Two beef producers
  • Two cattle feeders
  • Two dairy producers
  • Two livestock market owners
  • Two meat processors
  • Two horse producers

Qualifications for all appointed members require that the candidate be a resident of Washington state and engaged in the phase of the livestock industry they represent. These qualifications must continue throughout each member’s term of office. Each member serves a three-year term and serves without compensation. 
 
Organizations representing the groups on the committee may submit nominations for these appointments to the director for consideration. No more than two members at the time of their appointment, or during their term may reside in the same county.
 

The following positions will be expiring June 30, 2025:

  • Beef Producer, currently held by Neil Kayser
  • Cattle Feeder, currently held by Clinton Carl

Current vacant positions:

  • Livestock Market Owner – expires 6/30/26
  • ​Dairy Producer – expires 6/30/25
  • Dairy Producer – expires 6/30/27
  • Meat Processor – expires 6/30/27
  • Meat Processor – expires 6/30/26
