Open Consignment Horse Sale

The purpose is to ensure the orderly marketing of livestock and to protect persons who consign livestock to markets and sales.
Any individual, farmer's cooperative association, livestock market, association of livestock breeders, or youth livestock organization such as 4-H, FFA, or other junior livestock group who desires to conduct an open consignment horse sale must submit an application for an open consignment horse sale. .
You apply by requesting an application form by phone at 360-902-1855, by Email: livestockid@agr.wa.gov or by writing in your request to WSDA, Livestock Inspection Program, PO Box 42577, Olympia WA 98504-2577.
You need to include the permit fee and any documents listed in the application. In addition, the application must show a detailed statement showing all of the assets and liabilities of the applicant. They must provide a schedule of rates and charges that the applicant will impose on the seller or consignor, including the entry fee, commission, pass out (no sale) fees, stabling, verification of custodial account, written evidence of a valid bond and the projected approximate value of the horses to be handled.
The permit is issued within 15 days of the Department receiving the completed application and permit fee.
The permit is valid for only the specific date or dates and exact location stated in the permit.
