Material Registration Certificate

  What is the purpose of this certificate?
To verify the input materials manufactured and/or distributed by the operation is allowed for use in organic production.
  What activities require this certificate and who needs to get it?
The certificate is not required to sell organic input materials. Manufactures making organic compliant products may seek voluntary registration in order to use WSDA allowed material logo.

You apply by completing an application packet here.
  How much will it cost?
$500 - Pesticide, Spray Adjuvant, Processing Aid, Post Harvest Material, Livestock Production Aid $400 - Fertilizer, Soil Amendment, Crop Production Aid
  Do I need to include anything with my application?
All required forms listed on the new application packet are needed to accept the application including:
- New Application for Registration of Organic Input Materials (AGR 2289)
- Description of Manufacturing Process
- Manufacturing Facility Information (AGR 2817)
- Payment Must be submitted
- Product Label, Bill of Lading, or Invoice
- Material Safety Data Sheet for Final Product
- Ingredient Information
- Inspection Authorization Form (AGR 2814)
- Prohibited Practice Statement (AGR 2812)
  Is the decision to approve dependent on anything besides the information in my application?
- The application packet is evaluated for compliance with the National Organic Standards. (ECFR Part 205)
- A material registration specialist will review the application and determine if is approved to be a registered material for use in organic agriculture
  When will I receive my certificate?
120 days (as noted on the Agency application)
  How long is it valid?
All expire October 31st of each year. Generally issued for one year.
  What is the legal authority?
Chapter 15.86 RCW and chapter 16-160 WAC
  What is the appeal process?
Reformulation or Withdrawal of New Applications: During the application review process, an applicant may choose to reformulate or voluntarily withdraw their application if it is determined that their product does not meet the National Organic Standards.
