Dealer Only License
  What is the purpose of this license?
To operate as a grain dealer in the state of Washington under RCW 22.09.035 [external link]. The department will assess the appropriate fees according to our fee schedule. This application is for the current one year licensing period.
  What activities require this license and who needs to get it?
Dealers from our state or any state that buy grain from Washington producers must be state licensed. And, dealers that have their place of business in the state of Washington and buy from any producer regardless of location must be licensed.
  How do I apply?
Applications are sent out by mail the last week of May and available online.

  How much will it cost?
- $1,750 for a dealer license
- $500 for an exempt grain dealer license
  Is the decision to approve my license dependent on anything besides the information in my application?
Yes, Dealers must submit an audited or reviewed financial statement, and prove that their bond is current.
  When will I receive my license?
Depends on the application review, current financial statement, and bonding requirements. We try to get everyone licensed by July 1.
  How long is it valid?
From July 1 to June 30th of the license year.
  What is the legal authority?
Chapter 22.09 RCW, Agricultural Commodities [external link], and WAC 16-237, Commodity Storage Warehouses and Grain Dealers [external link].
  What is the appeal process?
The applicants have to meet all specific requirements or they cannot be licensed. We work with the applicants to get them licensed and show them what needs to be changed or updated to meet the requirements. Once they meet all requirements they can be licensed at any time.
