Certified Feedlot License

The purpose is to expedite the movement of cattle from producers to the point of slaughter without losing the ownership identity of such cattle, and further provide for fair and economical methods of identification of cattle in such commercial feed lots.
Any person operating a commercial feed lot, cattle feed lot, or similar facility.
You apply by completing a Certified Feedlot License Application and mailing it with documentation and the license fee to WSDA, Livestock Inspection Program, PO Box 42577, Olympia WA 98504-2577.
The fee for an initial license and the annual renewal is $850.00
The application must include:
  • Number of certified feedlots the applicant plans to operate and their exact location and mailing address;
  • Legal description of the land where the feedlot will be located;
  • Complete description of the facilities at each certified feedlot;
  • Estimated number of cattle that can be handled for feeding purposes at each certified feedlot;
  • Any other information required in the application; and
  • License fee.
For the initial license, WSDA will conduct an inspection of all cattle and their ownership documents.
License renewals do not require an inspection.
The license will be issued within 30 business days upon the $850.00 fee being paid and the application requirements completed and reviewed by the division.
Licenses must be renewed annually and expire on June 30th of each year.
Upon notice by the Department to deny, revoke, or suspend a license, a person may request a hearing under this chapter 34.05 RCW.
