Program Overview


In partnership with the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) has developed the Produce Safety Program. This program enforces the safe production of fruits and vegetables, thereby reducing the public health risks for consumers of Washington produce.
 
The program is designed to ensure and enforce compliance with the FDA Produce Safety Rule while maintaining consistency and uniform application.

FDA Standards for Exemptions

Determine your coverage status
If your farm has gross annual sales, based on a 3-year average, below $500k adjusted for inflation and you sell the majority of your products to Qualified End Users your operation may be eligible for a Qualified Exemption.

When submitting a complaint, please provide complete and accurate information so that we can review or investigate your issue successfully. If you are reporting a injury and/or illness it is crucial that you include accurate contact information so that we may follow up with you immediately.
