  April 2025
WSDA was approved by USDA for the No Cost Extension for LFPA and LFPA-Plus! Subrecipients that requested an extension now have until December 31, 2025 to spend their remaining funds, with the period of performance ending on February 28, 2026. Amendments have been issued for this timeframe extension. Any funds not spent by December 31, 2025 will be passed to the Director's Office for direct procurement, to be spent by December 31, 2026.

LFPA, LFPA Plus, and LFPA25 Recap & Update: WSDA Food Assistance (FA) has been responding to numerous inquiries regarding the Local Food Purchase Assistance (LFPA) Cooperative Agreement with USDA, which was initially launched in 2022. There were three rounds that consisted of LFPA, LFPA Plus, and LFPA25.
On March 7th, WSDA received notification from USDA that while the LFPA and LFPA Plus funds and grant agreements would be honored, the “new” LFPA25 funding for 2025-2027 was officially terminated. WSDA is in the process of seeking a no-cost extension from USDA for Food Assistance LFPA and LFPA Plus grants through December 31, 2025.

LFPA and LFPA Plus Total Grant Awards Summary: The total LFPA and LFPA Plus funding level is $11,806,813. The funding categories include $11,079,656.58 in pass-through grants to hunger relief organizations and tribes to procure local foods, $103,386.33 for Food Assistance(FA) staffing, and $623,770.09 for FA direct food purchases to be distributed to hunger relief organizations and tribes. In addition, FA provided $401,571.10 in pass-through grants funded by non-USDA sources to cover expenses that were not supported by these USDA grants.
