Processor Information

The WSDA Organic Food Program, a USDA-accredited certifier, upholds the integrity of the organic label through certification and inspection of organic crop and livestock producers, processors, handlers and retailers. As defined by the National Organic Standards, processors are firms that are engage in the canning, freezing, drying, dehydrating, cooking, pressing, powdering, packaging, baking, heating, mixing, grinding, churning, separating, extracting, cutting, fermenting, eviscerating, preserving, jarring, slaughtering or otherwise processing of organic products. Organic Certification Guide and Rules

The WSDA Organic Food Program has put together reference material to assist applicants with the organic certification process.  The WSDA Rules and Regulations Book contains the USDA National Organic Standards, WSDA Organic Standards and Regulations, and WSDA Organic Certification Fee Information.  The WSDA Guide to Organic Certification provides answers to frequently asked questions about certification, and provides details and references about organic production and handling requirements.

    WSDA's Organic Rules and Regulation Book was last updated May 2011. Changes have occurred in the regulation since this publication. Check the full text of the National Organic Standards on

Renewal Application Packet

To be completed by operations who initially applied with WSDA Organic Program prior to October 1, 2009. Postmark your renewal packet and fee by March 1 to avoid a late fee. If you applied after October 1, 2009 - Contact our office to be emailed electronic versions of your 2013 Renewal Forms. Coffee Roasters - Skip to the additional table below for your business specific renewal packet.

Organic standards require you to renew your certification every year!
If you are not selling, labeling, or representing products as "organic", contact our office to withdraw your certification. Failure to renew, or to notify our office of your wish to withdraw, may result in compliance action in addition to late fees.
