Gypsy Moth Identification

For more information, e-mail us or call (800) 443-6684.

The Western Tent Caterpillar is very common in western Washington and much less destructive. It is often mistaken for the gypsy moth.

Tent caterpillars produce these large web-like tents each spring. Gypsy moths do not build anything comparable to these tents.
