EPA LITIGATIONFederal Register Notice Volume 69, No. 57, March 24, 2004, Page 13836-13838 Summary: EPA is notifying retailers of lawn and garden pesticides in certain urban areas in California, Oregon and Washington that they are to make point of sale notifications available whenever pesticide products containing any of seven active ingredients are sold. This notice provides retailers with the names of the affected active ingredients, information regarding the urban areas where the notifications must be made, and other information regarding the point of sale notifications.[Top of page] AVAILABILITY OF COURT ORDERS IN WASHINGTON TOXICS COALITION V. EPA LITIGATIONFederal Register Notice Volume 69, No. 31, February 17, 2004, Page 7478-7480 Summary: This notice announces the availability of the Jan. 22,
2004 ruling of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of
Washington in the case of Washington Toxics Coalition, et al., v. EPA. The
order affects certain aspects of the sale, distribution and use of
pesticides and instructs certain entities about their responsibility to
inform others of this order. In particular, the order establishes buffer
zones for certain pesticides' uses within 20 yards for ground applications
and 100 yards for aerial applications adjacent to salmon supporting waters
in California, Oregon and Washington. The order also directs EPA to develop
and facilitate the availability of a point of sale notification in urban
areas in the three states for certain products containing any of seven
active ingredients. ENDANGERED SPECIES PROTECTION PROGRAM FIELD IMPLEMENTATIONFederal Register Notice Volume 67, No. 231, December 2, 2002, Page 71549-71561 Summary: EPA's Office of Pesticide Programs is describing, and
requesting comment on, implementation of its Endangered Species Protection
Program (ESPP). The goal of the ESPP is to carry out responsibilities under
FIFRA in compliance with the Endangered Species Act, while at the same time
not placing unnecessary burden on agriculture and other pesticide users.
This Notice describes how EPA proposes to implement its responsibilities
under Section 7(a)(2) of ESA by completing and upgrading County Bulletins,
amending pesticide labels to reference County Bulletins, and enhancing
monitoring programs. |
