This
project will:
-
Document
the status and future potential of locally based
food production and consumption systems in Washington,
Oregon and Idaho and three demographically diverse
counties.
-
Develop
farm case studies and business planning tools for four
common direct marketing strategies – farmers’
markets, Community Supported Agriculture, on-farm sales,
and direct to retail.
-
Foster
the development of farmers markets by working with
farmers market managers, vendors, and communities to
understand the social and economic value of farmers
markets.
-
Identify
and develop solutions for market barriers in federal,
state and local regulations, and barriers in facility
infrastructure, such as commercial kitchens and
slaughterhouses
