Direct Marketing, or relationship marketing, involves farmers in selling their products directly to consumers, thus avoiding using a broker or wholesaler. It is an effective way for small-to-medium scale farms to achieve economic sustainability.   

There are a variety of direct marketing strategies used by farms in Washington State: 

• Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)
• Farmers markets
• Restaurants
• Grocery stores
• Schools, colleges and institutions
• Agricultural tourism
