Registration of Commercial Weighing and Measuring Devices

Weighing and measuring devices used for commercial purposes must be registered annually. Your devices must be registered prior to being used for commercial purposes. Registrations are accomplished as part of the master license system through the Department of Licensing and may be accomplished on line. Registration of your devices is normally accomplished during application for a master license or when you add devices to your existing business. In instances where you operate several business locations you are required to possess and post a license for each location with the appropriate registrations and endorsements for the location.

Failure to register your device(s) may result in civil penalties of $50.00 per device.

Following are the annual registration fees for devices:

SCALES

Small scales "zero to four hundred pounds capacity" - $10.00
Intermediate scales "four hundred one pounds to five thousand pounds capacity" - $40.00
Large scales "over five thousand pounds capacity" - $75.00
Railroad track scales - $800.00

LIQUID FUEL METERS

Motor fuel meters with flows of less than twenty gallons per minute - $10.00
Motor fuel meters with flows of more than twenty but not more than one hundred fifty gallons per minute - $32.00
Motor fuel meters with flows over one hundred fifty gallons per minute - $50.00

LIQUID PETROLEUM GAS (LPG) METERS

With one inch diameter or smaller dispensers - $25.00
With greater than one inch diameter dispensers - $50.00

OTHER DEVICES

Fabric meters - $10.00
Cordage meters - $10.00
Mass flow meters - $200.00
Taxi meters - $25.00
