Farmers who have suffered damage to their farms or loss of production from natural disasters should download this Washington State Agricultural Disaster Assistance Brochure [PDF 73 kB].  The information provided will assist you in reporting damage and lost production to your local USDA Farm Service Agency office. The brochure explains how USDA Disaster Assistance Programs are activated and lists some of the programs that may be available.

WSDA is responsible for protecting the safety of our state's food supply. Food safety and animal health staff are trained and ready to respond if a natural disaster, accident or terrorist act contaminates crops, jeopardizes animal health or threatens the safety of food in the marketplace.

WSDA works with local, state and federal agencies and the food and agriculture industry to help Washington's food industry prepare for emergencies. We have developed and disseminated recommendations that can be used to protect crops, animals, farmland, manufactured foods and beverages, fresh produce and animal feed, as well as fertilizers and pesticides.

Northwest Warning, Alert, Response Network (NW-WARN): The NW-WARN system is a secure web portal that allows DHS, the FBI, or sector specific "Gatekeepers" to provide emergency flash messages to enrolled members.

Food Defense: Information and links for dairy operations, food processors, fruit and vegetable packers, warehouses, food distributors, importers, and retail food service establishments.

Protecting Animal Health: Information and links for livestock producers, dairies and pet owners.

Safeguarding Pesticides and Fertilizers: Information and links for retailers, distributors, wholesalers and farmers.

Additional Resources: Information and links for the general public.
