The WSDA Avian Health Program was established in 2006 to
protect the state of Washington against emerging bird diseases such
as Avian Influenza (AI) and Exotic Newcastle Disease (END). One of
the program goals is to educate producers, veterinarians, and the
general public on avian diseases of importance to the state of
Washington and to provide training on appropriate prevention and
control measures.
We are providing an online course and certificate program as
an entry level course to make participants aware of what
infectious disease is, some of the agents that may produce
infectious disease in birds, and most importantly, steps they
can take to minimize the risk of spreading these diseases.
Participants that complete this course are a vital part
Washington’s response as they are the first line of defense and
can provide this information to others.
Those who successfully pass the test will receive a
Certificate of Completion.
