Fire Protection

The Department of Natural Resources is responsible for wildfire protection on 12 million acres of private and state forest land. While fire can play a beneficial role in the forest ecosystem, it can be a destructive force that endangers our natural resources, our property, and even our lives. www.dnr.wa.gov/base/fire.html

The United States Forest Service manages public lands in national forests and grasslands, which encompass 193 million acres. www.fs.fed.us
