Pesticide Compliance

Enforces state and federal pesticide laws; conducts investigations of alleged misuse of pesticides; conducts routine inspections of pesticide applicators, dealers and producers; reviews permit requests for pesticide applications in sensitive areas; provides technical assistance to the regulated community and the public.

Registers pesticides and spray adjuvants distributed for use in Washington.  Reviews requests for Special Local Need (Section 24(c)) registrations, Section 18 Emergency Exemptions and Experimental Use Permits (EUP).  Provides label interpretations and technical assistance to the regulated community and the public.

Pesticide Program Development

Administers waste pesticide disposal program; provides interagency coordination on pesticide-related issues; conducts public outreach and new program development; licenses and recertifies commercial, public and private pesticide applicators, operators, consultants and pesticide dealers; licenses pesticide application equipment; addresses a variety of surface and ground water issues that involve fertilizers and pesticides.

Fertilizer Regulation

Registers commercial fertilizers distributed for use in Washington.  Collects and analyzes fertilizer samples to determine their accuracy, existence of heavy metals and their conformance to the state standards.

Feed Regulation

Registers animal feeds distributed for use in Washington.  Regulates the distribution of animal feeds, (including pet food), to assure product quality, inspects feed mills to ensure conformance to the good manufacturing practices.
