Legislative Affairs is the coordinating point for WSDA's interaction with the Legislature. This office oversees the development of all agency-request legislation (information below), budget proposals and reports provided to the Legislature.

Governor Inslee has convened the Legislature in a Special Session beginning Monday, May 13, 2013 to tackle work that remains to be done on the 2013-2015 biennial budgets and any critical policy bills. Here are some special session FAQs regarding the operation of a special session.

Agency-Request Legislation

A legislative proposal must be approved by the Governor to be offered as agency-request legislation. Typically, WSDA and other agencies submit proposals to the Governor's Office in early fall and are notified of approved proposals by the end of November.

  • 2013 – None
  • 2012 - SB 5374 - Making technical, nonsubstantive changes to various sections of the Revised Code of Washington that impact the department of agriculture.  Effective July 22, 2011.
  • 2011SSB 5072 - Authorizes WSDA to accept, expend, and retain gifts, grants, bequests, or other contributions. Signed into law.  Chapter 225. Effective Date: July 22, 2011.
