Processor Information

The WSDA Organic Food Program, a USDA-accredited certifier, upholds the integrity of the organic label through certification and inspection of organic crop and livestock producers, processors, handlers and retailers. As defined by the National Organic Standards, processors are firms that are engage in the canning, freezing, drying, dehydrating, cooking, pressing, powdering, packaging, baking, heating, mixing, grinding, churning, separating, extracting, cutting, fermenting, eviscerating, preserving, jarring, slaughtering or otherwise processing of organic products. Organic Certification Guide and Rules

The WSDA Organic Food Program has put together reference material to assist applicants with the organic certification process.  The WSDA Rules and Regulations Book contains the USDA National Organic Standards, WSDA Organic Standards and Regulations, and WSDA Organic Certification Fee Information.  The WSDA Guide to Organic Certification provides answers to frequently asked questions about certification, and provides details and references about organic production and handling requirements.

Renewal Application Packet

Annual certification renewal is a requirement under the National Organic Standards. Failure to renew, or to notify our office of your wish to withdraw from certification, may result in a compliance action in addition to late fees. To avoid a $100 per month late fee, complete the packet and mail the forms along with your annual fee to our office before March 1deadline.
Please note that the Organic Program is requiring a file update for all certified organic processors that submitted their application prior to October 1, 2009. Depending on the type of operation, you may have to submit an Organic System Plan, product formulations and/or product labels. Please choose one of the following:
